The real story here is the all-Mexico angle. Pairing the two on Cinco de Mayo weekend, traditionally a hot date for boxing, just makes sense. Despite any misgivings about the fight, it has a high chance of being a big action fight, and is quite likely to do strong business.
For the card, HBO and Golden Boy Promotions are bringing in more name fighters than is typical for a boxing PPV making it worth tuning in before just the main event.
