WATCH: Ancajas stops Gonzalez with 10th round KO in impressive U.S. debut (Video)

Jerwin Ancajas successfully defended his International Boxing Federation (IBF) superflyweight crown for the fourth time with an impressive 10th round technical knockout over Mexico's Israel Gonzalez at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The 26-year-old completely dominated the game but overmatched Gonzalez, dropping him right in the first round with a crunching left hook before finishing him off in the 10th, sending him to the canvass twice, both with left hooks, and forcing the referee to wave off the fight. Official time of the stoppage was 1:50 of the 10th.

In between, Ancajas simply had his way with challenger, who tried at times to go for broke and unload only to be met by a stiff right jab from the champion. Ancajas switched his attack in the middle rounds, surprising Gonzalez with crisp right hooks before switching back to his signature left hook later on to finish the fight.

The Compubox punch statistics showed just how one-sided the fight was. Ancajas landed 130 punches compared to just 48 for Gonzalez, including a whopping 84 to 46 edge in power punches.

Ancajas improved to 27 wins, one loss and one draw with 20 knockouts in his debut fight on US soil. Gonzalez suffered his second defeat in 23 bouts.

"I wasn't expecting the knockout because I saw he was determined to fight," said the humble champ afterwards.
