The Draw

When two legitimate world champions, who are both still in their prime, fight to unify titles, you watch. It’s really that simple, at least if you’re a boxing fan. The two men are a combined 55-2-1 in their careers.

There are many who would love to see Spence face a more popular opponent like Manny Pacquiao or Terence Crawford. I would love to see those fights as well, but I cannot discredit Porter as someone who doesn’t deserve to be in the ring with Spence.

Spence is a huge favorite.

Per MyBookie, the IBF champ is a -805 favorite and Porter sits as a +555 underdog. I firmly believe Spence will win the fight, but those are odds for a fighter coming up in weight, or for someone who hasn’t accomplished much in their career.

That’s not who Porter is, and now he has to prove that everyone is selling him short. Porter and Spence seem to respect each other as men, but the latter exudes a quiet, laid-back confidence. It’s almost as if he sees the result as a foregone conclusion. That seems to light a fire under Porter, who is a hard-working, athletically awkward and dirty fighter.
